I have a similar set like this one when I pulled the bearing from a Corolla front knuckle. The old hub retained the inner race and the knuckle held the outer race. It's either a hydraulic press or one of these tools. Front Wheel Drive Bearing Remover and Installer Kit, 21 Piece

I'm trying to picture it. so you basically mean, thread it with a long bolt and then pound it out....and it seemingly will slowly come loose?

how necessary is the dust-cover for the brakes? is there a way to rig it so I don't need to remove the bearings again. However, this time it'll be easier as there is anti-seize painted on everything.

Probably more like press it apart. Use bolts long enough to go through thing A and through a nut/washer and bottom against thing B, then turn the nut up against thing A and keep turning. Develops thousands of pounds of pressure.

Just went out to the shop took a generation to HUB flipped it over and I'm looking at the four bolts that hold the hub to the aluminum hub blast 4 bolts loose throw on floor take two 3 in long as thread bolts one in cross now beat bolt heads whack a mole fashion . When the bolts bottom against the aluminum you'll see the bearing sticking almost all the way out of the hub. Blast bolts off push beating thru w hammer handle

"You take the four bolts out two were already removed so you're looking at four holes stick the long bolts in Cross from each other one where the p is and one across the other corner and then beat on the heads of the bolts until the bearing is halfway hanging out the other side which is the way it goes out when the bolt heads of the 3 inch long bolts are up against the aluminum and you lift it up the bearing will almost be ready to fall out take your electric gun Lefty loosey the two bolts you were just beating on doesn't matter if you **** them up and the bearing will fall on your foot if you're not careful now you're ready to clean up the hole with some crocus cloth a little bit of oil tap the new bearing in put in the bolts and get on with the show you should look at changing that lower ball joint while you have this nut exposed when it's together it's a pain in the nice person it's a $20 joint makes sense at 300K but I've left a few on so far so good but generally I try to have the hubs with the new bearing and the new lower ball joint sitting there in the shop ready to go so when the new car comes in I just swing that assembly drop in the tie rod end attach the ball joint to the lower control arm had the two strut bolts tighten everything up push everything in put on the wheel and we're done"

so basically hit it at diagonally-placed bolts until it comes out, right?

thats based on still having the hub attached to the bearing. mine looks like this, it fell apart very easily when tried to remove it which to me suggests it wouldnta lasted much longer while I was driving. When I shook the wheel off the ground the movement was really pronounced as I have been driving knowingly with this bad bearing for a few weeks. tried to keep my trips short and safe though so it wouldn't be catastrophic had I driven on the freeway or something.
