I have a 2011 base model prius. It developed the rear driver side wheel bearing hub humming 165,000 ish miles. I sent the prius to Firestone for wheel bearing hub assembly replacement. They had to put 3 different hubs into it all the new ones they installed had the been defective ranging from normal replacement to premium quality. All of them once installed had various problems. They are installing new oem one currently. Is this a common problem for prius aftermarket hub assembly's? Thanks Marshall
I don't know man I guess it could be a location thing maybe people are beating on the bearings to put them in when they don't need to who knows . I can't see them installing them from here and they don't let you in the shop on purpose so. You just never know in this day and age a big hammer is a top tool in many shops. And you see how your local kids are doing . Well they're you're new meccies. I know scary or maybe should be. But you are experiencing what everybody on this chat has been talking about for years apparently I have never had this experience with four cars and nobody touches them but me my bearings get put on by me not my son or front of house but etc . So I don't know what they're doing on my crap I've got bearings on corners of all 4 these things that range from 39 bux a pop to over 150 a pop . So far in 7 years or so . NONE have failed or started making a racket or any of that . I've a lifted Prius too same situation my cats go off the pavement very regular room still nothing . I live in derp souf USA . So if anything was going to be fubar it would be around here . Go figure. That's 16 bearings here on site on the ground 25 7 365 and cars all on the 20 year marks more or less . Wish I had an answer.
