I’m replacing all the plastic undercover parts on my 2013 Prius. I was able to find kits for the front guard and wheel fender liners (with the fasteners included), but I can’t find a fastener kit for the main engine under cover. Does anyone know where I can get the correct fastener kit for the main cover?
No kits . Look at parts breakdown of car .every lil Stoopid part like a weed eater at sears parts direct. Remember that . I bet .
The oil change link in my signature* has a link to a Toyota Technical Service Bulletin for the engine bay under-panel, which itemizes the fasteners. * (on a phone turn it landscape to see signatures)
They're are millions of other fasteners that work that's determined by hole size . They're are better fastners on some Nissan cars etc even some stellantis vehicles . If I have to increase the hole size from 6 to 8mm for the better fastner I use me drill .
If you really want the fasteners to hold, an M6 rivet nut is the perfect fit in the 7mm holes in Toyotas with no drilling. Then, I would use M6 bolts with one inch or 25mm outer diameter neoprene backed 1/4 inch hole or number 14 stainless steel washers. The neoprene washers will not pull through the polypropylene sheeting that makes up the plastic undercover..
Regular removal/install of the panel, coupled with always rinsing the grit out of the stock fasteners, has worked for me. For about the first 12 years of owners ours had the panel off twice yearly, in conjunction with oil changes, so 24 times, plus maybe half-a-dozen more times, for this-n-that. For the last three years I've gone to once-a-year oil changes, so 3 extra removals, and likely about 3 more. Rough total: 36~ removals. A few years back I noticed one or two with a missing jaw, so ordered (through Amayama) a full replacement set, specifically: (14) - 90467-07201 - Thin Metal & Plastic Clips (2) - 90467-09227 - Thicker Metal & Plastic Clips (info from aforementioned TSB) I've used 3 or 4 of them so far. At current exchange rate, purchase through Amayama was $24.80 USD, all-in: (throw in a few wiper blades, peanut bulbs, and the shipping likely would remain the same, or pennies more.
Both the two sizes used in Prii are readily available. After a couple of my originals vanished, I just bought 100 of the larger (9-mm) size for under $3 through eBay.
