When you're talking gen 2, the actuator and the accumulator are built into the same single assembly you can buy, so it isn't very critical which word you use, you get the same part.

In other generations, not so much.

It is called a "Brake Actuator" by Toyota and sometimes simply "Master Cylinder".

I am sure he has heard of that.

The part price a week ago shipped was $982. Somebody who works on Toyota and has their Techstream scanner could do it in four hours. You do the math.

I don't believe the brake actuator and master cylinder are the same thing.

You could DIY it with an ebay (used part: $250) for...if you wanna have...fun...and get brake fluid everywhere :)

Oh no...I am equipped in no way, shape, or form to do my own brake job. I'm taking it in this week to have it done.

Just curious, though: Does anyone know of other major things that might be about to go wrong aside from this and the hybrid battery? The decision to put the money into this fix is of course based on the hope that it's got some life left in it after this. And yes, crystal balls might be helpful.

that's pretty much it if you're not burning any oil, and no one steals the cat. unlikely, but the inverter can go, they are cheap salvage and easy install.
