Perhaps in the year 2050 OBD3 data readers over BT8 are built in and everyone can read them with their phones. Go EU go… :)

(Just wanted to mention that the amount of Sensors/PIDs available in Car Scanner PRO with the G3 profile is absurdly high. The page never stops scrolling, it’s info overkill. :)

I now also have a Gen3 PHEV 2014, aswell as two Gen2. Fascinating cars indeed. :giggle:

Does the Carscanner free version suppose to read Electric Water pump rpm?
Mine is not showing anything and want to be sure if it means fault. Prius 2010 Gen3 with Carista OBD

On a side note, I asked the Car Scanner developer a question about whether it works with CarPlay (it does) and he got back to me the next day. Same with the OBD Fusion app developer, which also works with CarPlay.

Car scanner on gen3 does not work properly on water pump rpm. I have notified the developer several times and he claims it does. Testing is clearly an issue. They do have a point editor in the latest version but I have not tried it.

I use two other higher dollar scanners when necessary. Car Scanner excels as an easy to use phone app with better graphics configurability than my other more elaborate scanners.

Its interface is stored in the glovebox and ready to go for codes and most gen3 hybrid data. Of all data, coolant temps are essential which I monitor fulltime with a P10 obd2 display. That device also has early warning audible alarms setup for coolant among other things.

I see, because it seems it sees the inverter water pump RPM but not the combustion engine water pump RPM. I will also submit request to the DEV

The inverter rpm does not change in realtime using car scanner. The best test for either is bidirectional control followed by rpm. With coolant temp as priority. Don't run with high coolant temp especially if flashing your light.

There is a reason the $2k and higher scanners work and the sub $200 units have all kinds of incompatibilities which vary among vehicles. The software, testing and ongoing improvements. Most of the brands use one or two software engines with Launch being one of the best platforms. The gearwrench unit is a clone of a similarly priced Xtool unit at the same price point.

That is the exact one and as far as I can tell there are no fees everything download updated I don't see any subscription adds or asks . I do not see anything in literature and I've used on Chevy and Toyoda and seen all the services in their menus

What about VCX Diagnostics available from China? 40man on tundras.com forum posted about using their hardware with a version of Techstream they provide. Here is a link to one of his posts.

Techstream 18.0 is supposed to have all 2023 Toyota models per their site here. The 5th generation Prius came out in 2023. I haven't purchased one but have come pretty close. I think the cheapest OBD diagnostic tool for Toyota is the VCX-SE which is about $180 on aliexpress. The one I think I would purchase would be the VCX DoIP which is about $300 and has ethernet, usb type-a and type-b as well as a more robust housing.

I have seen several posts on a couple forums that the company has very good customer support and they respond pretty quickly. If I remember correctly it may require an internet connection and a PC for them remote in and set the software up if you can't get it working.

Well that's great I knew somebody here would would have spent a lot of time with scanners like Sherwood Coke in Fla. I do not spend any time with if it's possible to not . My real tech software from dealer has been well as perfect as I guess it gets the sp 200 made me shelve the toughbook for an in pocket tool . This GW thingy looked familiar on menu . And so far is capable . 8 SE no asks for monthlies so far . For me it was given to me by friend who buys pallets he get car shiet brings it right over here . He don't wanna be bothered. Usually I don't either . But I will take a look.
