2018 Prius C, One Has anyone tried to remove the black roof moldings? Trying to decide if its possible to remove and add a Yakima roof rack/crossbars for my SUP.
I haven't dug into the details, but there appear to be small removable tabs within those trim rails- at just about the right spots for adding a roof rack. I have to wonder if Toyota has anchors meant to attach there? Not sure how you would interface them with a third party roof rack, but if that's possible it may make a tidier solution than removing the entire moldings.
On our Gen 3 hatchback I found it was just a matter of hooking fingernails under the trail edge and off it comes. Good to do periodically, clean out any grit, apply some wax. They are a little different though, no where near as wide.
