You can find more details about the antenna/SKS oscillator locations in this thread. There are sensors in each front door, the center console, and the rear hatch. The likelyhood of all sensors/antennae failing at the same time seems low. Either the fob transmitter is dead or a central SKS component in the car failed. Techstream or an advanced OBD2 scan tool should have diagnostics to test the SKS system.

The locksmith needs a modern tool like vvdi it can call up individual boxes of security system report back to key tool their respective ID's and that their numbers are capable of communicating with rest of systems ie signals can move around the security system and so on and point to dead spot or areas of that proximity that system should cover and why not . Getting ready to play with one for about a week . Apparently a lot of smiths stay very clear of these activities on purpose they do not want to buy in on snap on toolboxes etc . I feel their pain.

yes I ran into that a lot. The locksmith the mechanics recommended said they did want to warrantee an electrical issue and wanted to replace the whole system . Not sure if I had gone that way they would have been successful.

Yes the mechanic used a high tech scanner and got codes. i don't know if it was Tec stream or not.. I will ask when I call.
I'll ask about the black box as well.

Sorry I don't have a solution for you, but I have a fob that did the same thing. Stopped working except if I insert it. My other fob still works fine. Tried a few new batteries and could never figure it out.

It is possible that the literal remote or fob that you have is bad a tech w vvdi should take longer to boot the key tool to tell ya fob issue . Uhs supply has factory copies of the two black and silver SKS 57 bux . It's not the sex with the stupid looking green board that you see on eBay that tell you they're compatible .

I'd be interested in just hearing about their electrical repair that they can't guarantee but they can do just out of curiosity. What do you have one fob that works correctly as SKS and one that do not like others above or just one half working ? I mean if zi take the three computers needed from another car with their working remotes place that in said vehicle and should be good to go if it was all working in the donor car it should work Installed else where. Course you're looking at labor of changing evap I believe .

I originally had 2 working fobs. Last March , there ws a fire and I lost all my cloths and spare keys to both my cars. The master keys were in their perspective cars. Since key prices went up and I had a lot to replace, I put thee keys on the back burner. I only have the 1 master key.

Test the fob at oreillys and the mechanism. It's working correctly.
