I have a 2007 Prius that needs a brake actuator and a hybrid battery. I figure a new actuator and refurbished battery will cost about $2,400 (not figuring in labor). My husband can do the work (he has already installed a hybrid battery before in a 2004 Prius that my son still drives), but I am not sure I want to invest that much money in the car. My independent Prius mechanic has offered to pay $400-$600 for it as a parts car. Is that a reasonable offer? I think the scrap value of the catalyst alone is about $600.
If you get offered more sure but the scrap yards offer gonna start about 450 in my area . SE USA. Sometimes a shop mite offer me a tad more cash because they might work on enough of them etc . It's a real crap shoot . I got trucks coming here picking up all kinds of vehicles . About 400 to 600 is quite normal the converter buis fell off a looong time ago. But if you've an idiot buyer that thinks otherwise well let em think .
