I just bought a fixer upper. 2012 v wagon. My main question is when the brake system fails according to the toyota customer support program for this issue, what parts can or should be used. The parts new are quite pricey, just trying to save a buck, ill even rebuild the assembly if someone points me to the right parts.

BTW it is currently showing all the dash lights and the brake pedal does feel weird to me. Car was diagnosed by Toyota dealer.

Used parts are the only cheap option and they are risky since many versions exist even for your model and year. On top of that, you could get a bad one.

Rebuild parts, aftermarket brake boosters or rebuilt brake boosters are not available.

The right way to save money is to buy new parts from an online Toyota dealer after you shop several sites. 25-50% off assemblies has been available with the highest discounts during national holiday events. Some have free shipping and all will ensure the right part when you supply a vin.

After installation, a special bleed and calibration procedure using Toyota Techstream is needed. Some high end scanners are reported to work as well.. Many get stuck on this step especially with the low cost hacked Techstream software and a cheap mini-vic hardware obd2 interface.

Often the best solution is an independent hybrid shop with experience in this repair. They get a deep discount from Toyota and have the proper tools.
