I read somewhere that it is possible to turn off the keyfob to prevent theft:

    - Hold Lock Key down
    - Press Unlock 2x
    - Release both keys

There is supposed to be a LED on the key fob which flashes after completing this key sequence. My 2012 Two key fob does not appear to have a LED on it or if there is one, it's definitely not flashing.

Has anyone tried to turn off their key fob? Does my car simply not have that feature?

i think the led is just top right corner of the lock button. press a button and see if it blinks.

Okay yeah, so I do have the light and it does flash upon unlock. So why isn't the key sequence working for me. Am I doing something wrong?

The table on page 590 of OM has some references to smart key system, but nothing about turning off key fob. So it may not be available in this trim or year. It could also be a software thing. I mainly got the idea from youtube. So far, I have been storing the keys inside aluminum foil.
