So I had a 'P malfunction', got a jump from AAA and that seemed to fix it. Fully charged the battery. Now there's a flashing light (had to take 12 pics before I caught it flashing so fast); don't see reference to it anywhere. Anyone know what this means?
To the upper left of the open door light.

Read the owners manual for your car. All the lights on the dashboard are explained.

One thing the owners' manual has that's nice is the map of where all the indicator lights are:

So if you're looking for the light one up and two left of the door-ajar light, you know it's this one:

By blinking all the time when the car is turned off, it announces to would-be car thieves: "hey, this car's got a blinking light on the dash! go steal one that hasn't!".

I think that feature may have been more effective around 40 years ago, when there wasn't a similar blinking light on the dash of every car in sight.

The weirdest thing about this light is it seems pretty much every owner manages to never notice it blinking, until one day, and then swears it never did that before. I've got a family member I've been through that whole spiel with more than one complete time around....
