I’m planning to go to Walmart auto care Center soon for an auto oil change and I noticed they offer three different options in order of increasing price: Quaker State synthetic - full synthetic - premium synthetic. Is Quaker State sufficient for the average car’s needs or is there a reason to go with premium?
Coonsider also Walmart's house brand Super Tech. It's actually made by Warren Distribution, the same source for Costco's Kirkland oil. I've been using the latter for a few years now, seems fine, and less pricey than the mainstream brands. Here's Mr. B's exhaustive review of the later, comparing to Mobil 1. I literally fell asleep about half way through, when he got into the deep tech:
I have used Walmart Supertech synthetic oil for about 30 +years....no problems. It's more about changing your oil regularly than which brand you use.
I use the Supertech full synthetic too; but I spring for the extra dollar and use the 20K mile formulation. It contains more anti-wear additives. I've only been using it since 2012, starting with my old Prius C.
