With folks that have some of the newest gen5 PHEVs, has anybody yet in the usa or Canada received a 'dual voltage' (so 120v and 240v) charging cable from toyota? If yes, could you post some photos of how it is arranged regarding the 120v and 240v plugs? And maybe an image of the factory label with all of the electrical specs? Thanks!

The 120V cable is capable of handling 240V, but it doesn't provide the performance of a level 2 charger.

I understand, but I am not asking about the performance, I was more just curious how the new "dual voltage" charging brick looks like, how the 2 plugs are attached/removed, and so on.

That said, when I have charged my priusP on 240v (vs 120v), it charges in about half of the time that it takes charging on 120v.

You'd think, but I looked it up somewhere (forget the details now) the supplied cable will work on 240V. But it does not double the charging rate, it only charges a bit faster.

it depends on the amperage of the L2 evse

Yes, that is what I was saying, it does indeed "charge a bit faster". It charges in about half the time it takes as when charging on 120v.

Like many devices nowadays, it can adjust to different input voltages, but I am sure that it won't deliver a level 2 charging rate. That much I remember.
    Just trying to help.

if the '26 comes with a dual voltage evse, toyota might have upped the amperage

    No worries.

But wattage depends on voltage times amperage. Even if the amperage stays exactly the same, if you double the voltage (say, to 240v from 120v), then the wattage doubles. Even at exactly the same amperage. And this doubling in voltage typically halves the charging time.

That is why toyota is now shipping officially "dual voltage" charging cables with their newest phevs that come to north america. Or, so I have been told.

true, but it wouldn't make much sense to add a dual voltage evse and only have 240v a little bit faster.
and we know that toyota makes sense

Various EV plug adapters are sold on Amazon. Just get one today on Cyber Monday. The OEM 120-V North America charger reportedly works with 240 V as well.

Oh, yes, I made my own adapter and its quality far exceeds the random ones on amazon.

But I am more curious to see what toyota has officially done in this department. And if any of the specs for the phev charging brick have changed from the previous North American "single voltage" version (that most of us currently have). I am guessing that the amperage is exactly the same.

I've been using an adapted to 240 v oem cable for my '23 se for over a year. At full charge rate (12 amps) a full charge takes about 4 hours. Same cable at 120 v takes about 11 hours. I usually charge at the 8 amp setting, which takes about 6 hours for full charge.

    Thanks, very helpful.

For that one at least, the amperage is clearly higher than the one I have.

Yes, the ampere setting (not rating) for that would always be exactly 12.0 A or 8.0 A, the former being the default and the latter being an option in the settings menu.

Are you saying that your se has a lower charge rate? Because I understand that it is the car that limits the charging rate to 12 or 8 amps, as the cable has the capacity to provide up to 32 amps.

I don’t know if you get the Toyota Mobile Charger, if the amperage would be higher than 12 A. If you go to a ChargePoint station, you certainly get more than 12 A, only limited by the power of the car’s internal charger. So, it could also be determined by the EVSE, and perhaps the Toyota Mobile Charger overrides the 12 A in the car if the EVSE can function as a Level 2 EVSE.
