I'm tired of having to walk to my front door to struggle with getting the lock lock hold button timing and peering to see if I get flashing lights that indicate remote start worked. I have homeassistant set up and I saw someone did kind of wiring with a dry contact relay to lock their doors at night. Anyone try this yet with a prius keyfob to get it to remote start/lock etc? Just ordered a zen16 to experiment, would be nice to be able to warm up the car with a phone shortcut while its in my driveway.
While I'm using Hubitat and ZEN16's to operate my garage door and driveway gate, the garage (old, ie, not smart) door openers are hardwired and the gate I actually did buy a gate remote and managed to get it to work. That remote was relatively cheap. I don't even want to think of how much Toyota would charge for one, never mind to program it. Perhaps someone at Home Assistant has figured out how to get Toyota Connect to do it. Then again, the subscription would probably pay for a new fob in short order, lol. There are zigbee button pushers. I used one for a while to push a button, but then it kind of crapped out, mechanically.
Nah I'd be using my spare key for this. I do have an extra empty fob but it is not programmed; all the dealers wanted 200+ to program it, and unfortunately its one of the newer ones that has rolling encryption/code (?) so normal locksmiths don't seem to have the software to program it. I disassembled my spare and tested it by touching the solder points on both sides of the lock button and it does trigger and remotely lock my car. Unfortunately I did not have 3 hands so trying to get the lock lock hold pattern was too difficult. hoping to connect it to the keyfob and set something up through HA to do the lock lock hold 'triggers' Hoping the zen16/zwave/homeassistant has some way of triggering a hold, i know I can do a toggle/press but never had a hold function before. There is a Toyota Connect HACS (community integration) but the remote start is greyed out likely due to the fact that I do not have a subscription. This would purely be a local trigger and I don't want to pay the 15/mo blatant money grab, seeing as the car is constantly phoning home with data already that I can see in Toyota Connect.
