What else should I address while doing a head gasket job?

My 2012 Prius v is showing signs of a head gasket failure (225k miles; a small amount of coolant in the oil and random misfires).

Tomorrow, I’m going to pull the head and see if the engine is salvageable. I have a Felt pro head gasket kit and new head bolts.

Assuming the engine isn’t a complete loss (the pistons still look dirty via a borescope), what other things should I think about doing while I’m in there? It’s never burned oil.

    Recent maintenance:

    • \* EGR flush

    • \* water pump, thermostat and hoses

    • \* new plugs and coils

    • \* fuel injector cleaning

did the 'egr flush include cleaning the whole circuit including intake manifold ports?
