Lower glove box not easily opening

Good afternoon all,

when I bought this Prius, the bottom glove box didn’t seem to want to open unless you pushed it to the left. Once I get it open, there seems to be nothing wrong or anything in the way. I have replaced that filter on more than one occasion so I’ve had to look back there.

I can’t seem to figure out why it doesn’t seem to want to easily open and close.

on the left side where the button is, the door is proud about 3/8 of an inch or so and is not flush with the button. It moves if I push it back and forth.

any pointers?

 

It seems to overlay. It’s a little wobbly and in the first slot. Seems to lean more to the right.

right side is flush and left side is a bit proud.

 

Sorry…. Using finish carpentry terms. Proud means it’s sticking out a bit. It’s in both of the pivot holes. Still off though.

 

Here are some photos. I have to push from the right to get it to drop down.

So the door sticks out a little bit on the top left. I suspect that pushing the button doesn’t push the releasing far enough to make the right side completely release.
