Can we actually go 10,000 miles without changing oil if we're using the suggested synthetic oil, and if so, why is it that the "oil maintenance" message pops up after 5,000 miles? I notice the sticker the shop puts on the windshield is always for about 5k as well. The mileage number they put on the sticker always seem to match up pretty closely to when the "oil maintenance" message pops up on my car. My understanding is that over 100k the car begins to burn more oil than previously, but right now my car has 50,000 miles on it. I've been getting an oil change every 5k, every time the maintenance light comes on - is it overkill?
This thread is very similar to the thread you created on November 22nd, How many miles between oil changes? And this thread that you created on October 16th, Question about oil change timing and Oil maintenance light How many different threads do you need to create on this subject? Maybe it would be good for you to go back and read those threads again.
In that gen3 stuff better go with 3500 to 5K changes . Most people by now are probably getting out of generation 3 so
