The impacta series drivers work perfectly.

I bought a set of screwdrivers for my RC hobby a while back and I think I accidentally bought the JIS type. I thought it was a Chinese thing not Japanese and they do work well. I say Chinese because just about all the RC stuff comes from China.

Posts #31 and #33 appear to imply that a conventional, separate, hand impact driver works as well or better. Per posts #6 and #14, what he ordered was the Impacta series. Perhaps he received defective units?

Yeah mine say Impacta. Left a review on Amazon, haven't heard anything back from seller. I'm ok with them, as screw drivers, and I know my impact driver can do things like get the honda rotor screws off.

FWIW, I actually reinstalled them, just firmly snugged down, with a good coat of anti-seize. Considering how quickly they came off with my old school impact driver (and 4 pound sledge hammer ), I think it'll be ok if there's a next time.

It has been 8 years since the last post. Would anybody care to comment on which JIS bits and JIS accepting manual impact drivers would be best to get from those that are available now?

I really need to buy some short JIS bits soon to properly tighten down the replacement MAP on a 1998 Honda Accord. (It is in a tight space and they were removed/replaced using a thumb wheel bit holder with a Phillips bit. It just barely worked and I don't have confidence that those screws are tight enough for the long term.) Those bits should really also fit whichever manual impact driver I will get, since sooner or later those Honda rotors are going to need to come off. There are also JIS screw heads on the Prius, and not having them kept me from inspecting the inside of the HV battery computer when our replacement pack was installed.

(FYI, turns out MAP failures on an Accord can do some pretty strange things. The first symptom was that if the car was rev'd to 3K and then the accelerator released RPM would fall too fast and the car would stall. Never stalled in normal driving though. The second symptom was that the RPM would bog down by ~100 RPM or so when the AC was turned on. The third symptom, and the one which made me go find the problem, was that after the car warmed up it would throw a P0108 code and then barely run. Yet in bench testing that MAP appeared to work normally. In any case, swapping in a junkyard MAP resolved all of these issues.)
