My 2008 with about 153K miles is still on the original traction battery. Gen 2 is so reliable that I am afraid to get anything else!

A month ago I bought a clean one owner 2007, always serviced at a dealership (with all records) with a clean bill of health.

Last week I had to replace the original battery in it with a new one bought from the dealership, so 19 years and ~209K miles. However, judging from the records, looking at dates and mileage readings, this car was not driven much the last few years which probably contributed to the battery issue. Hope to get a long life of commuting out of this car now.

2007 Prius Touring currently 207K and purchased 13 months ago with 195K. Previous owner(s) had installed a now defunct Nexcell Project Lithium Jack's special highly touted lithium pack at some point. Not long after I purchased it I got a red triangle of death with a failing battery. I ended up buying a new OEM Panasonic pack from Toyota and installed it myself. Currently getting around low 40 mpg.

You mention "low 40 mpg".. what is your average as you should be hitting well above 45pmg with a new battery? It has been cold in PA, so maybe that could be a major issue for mpg.

168K on my 2008 and am seeing some weird signs so not sure if it’s starting to go. Hybrid charge decreases over night but does go back up into the green when driving. Anything else I should be looking for?

I was seeing around 45mpg range last summer and fall. Winter mpg pretty dismal in the low 40s range. We are probably 80% suburb non-freeway driving with lots of hills and elevation changes. Winter temperature had been on average upper 30s to upper 40s this winter.

I think you’re right, and Palm Springs will be hard on the battery.
That being said, you can drive it until it sets a code, or replace it proactively

I just purchased a 2009 prius 170k miles with original hybrid battery. Dr. Prius says it has 48% life left but i am getting around 48-51mpg in city driving. I did all the necessary maintenance which previous owner didn't do like spark plugs, pcv valve, throttle body and intake manifold cleaning, maf, air filters, hybrid fan cleaning. After doing all of these my mpg improved a bit.
And for the hybrid battery when i checked with techstream i could see all modules voltages are mostly uniform under 0.2v delta. I am curious if i could recondition this battery as i am on a budget. And i am new to this forum and i am not sure where to post for help. Is it possible to rent a grid charger/discharging kit in florida? Any help is appreciated.

I drive an '05-G2. I swapped mine out summer-time last year. It was somewhere in the 195-thousand lap zone.
