I have a 2009 Toyota Prius. The key fob is worn out, but still works, so I want a backup fob in case it stops. I found some online with programming instructions. BUT A while back, I had to replace the key fob shell. I bought just a shell on eBay and moved the green board from the original to the new case. I didnt keep the original casing, so now I cant find the FCCID that it says I would need in order to get the right model fob to program . I need to know if anyones has had this issue or knows of anything I can do to get the correct model fob online, without knowing the id #. Or anything that could help me to get a copy of my key, before its to late, (Besides the dealership or Locksmith, who both I cannot afford) P.S. After I put the new shell on, the Fob push button lock/unlock no longer worked. Idk if that matters to help identify what fob I need.
As you noted, without the RFID transponder chip, the easiest fix is to go to a dealership or locksmith. Alternatively, you may be able to solve your problem by buying a brand new (never used) key fob, paying for a seed code, and then using Toyota Techstream software to do an "all keys lost" procedure. Go google "techstream all keys lost". You may also be able to use an advanced (i.e., expensive) automotive tool to do the same. Let this be a reminder to everyone else to ALWAYS have a spare key fob, to avoid this exact situation!
Look on Facebook marketplace you'll find the kids making the keys they'll be able to walk up to your car with the device like I have in my hand right now open the door if the 12 volts good scan your start button all immo. Info captured . Now making fob is no issue . You want an original UHS supply has the fobs is one model is sks and the other is not . If you have the key button under the steering wheel your SKS. With that data the dude got with the machine he may have a Toyoda board . It will work with the battery on it but it may not fit the case hence the original fob from uhs
