I used to own a Gen 3 with a Curt hitch but before I sold it, I took off all the hitch related items from it since the Curt web site says the Gen 3 and v have the same part number. I did try to put it on my v but somehow it doesn't seem to clear the back bumper. Has anyone tried doing a swap before?
So this is wrong? Class 1 Trailer Hitch with 1-1/4" Receiver SKU #11276 for $179.99 by CURT Manufacturing
I went to Curt's website and it does list the same part # for both models. I opened a copy of the instructions posted and the images look like they are a v at first glance. If it doesn't clear does that mean it would fit if you cut a hole in the bumper? EDIT- Toyota made a change to the v bumpers I forget which year. Do you have the new style and this is why it may not fit? REVVL V+ 5G ?
Those hitches have different weight ratings I'm not sure they'd be the same even on the same model Prius... REVVL V+ 5G ?
Appears the three brands I just read into do interchange with the Draw Tite model also noting the gen 4 as well. I have the Draw Tite. It's been there for over 6 years. It's easier to install on the v than the regular Gen 3. There were no underpanels to cut. Only the front bumper was different on later models of the v due to reinforcement for the oblique angle front crash. The rear bumper apparently remained the same throughout the v's model run.
