    Hey Everyone!

I wanted to share this with everyone in the hopes it helps you as much as it's helped me. I'm the very proud owner of a 2005 Toyota Prius. Love my car, love the milage I get out of it, it may not be pretty but it's functional and it's the reason why unlike drivers of gas guzzlers I'm not stressing over the fuel prices of today.

Having said that, I HATE the fact that I have to keep guessing as to how much fuel is left in the tank, how much I can drive etc. It's a crapshoot and a guessing game. I've been doing some research by using myself as a guinea pig and I've designed a tool that anyone can use that helps with that.

You simply go and fill up, I usually go to full all the time. You tell it how much you drove, your fuel consumption could be L/100KM for metric or MPG for imperial and it helps you try and figure out how much fuel your tank can actually hold. As you enter more and more entries you can use the fuel check tool so that any point you can enter your fuel consumption and distance driven so it can give you an idea of the distance-to-empty. This is an ongoing project and your feedback is greatly appreciated. This tool is completely free, I'm not affiliated with Toyota and any donations are appreciated but not expected. Again, the goal was to solve a problem I know I and many others have. I wouldn't say it's 100% accurate but it's pretty darn close. The other day I told it I had drive 390KM, that my fuel consumption was at 4.4L/100KM it came back and told me that to fill up my tank I should put in 16L of fuel, turns out it was 16.4L but close enough.

Here's the link: Hybrid Synergy Drive Companion // Diagnostic Tool

Please use the contact form in case you have any suggestions for features I could add to improve this.

    Thanks everyone!

So you're display is out he's looking at a black screen driving down the road this is reason for calculator? All of mine work out in the southeast United States that you fill car till it squirts at ya . Drive about 360 miles. And you'll put approximately 8.4 gallons of gas in and drive same again and you guessed it put anudder 8.4 gal And . Go back Jack do it again .

The whole purpose of this is to calculate how much gas is actually in your tank. In the south east of the US you would probably have more consistently warmer weather, in other parts north east for example or in my case in Canada, the weather fluctuates a lot more. I also find that the low fuel beep seems to be a little premature. The whole point of this is having a more accurate understanding of that is actually happening rather than guessing. A lot of cars out there have a feature that tells you the distance to empty, our Gen 2s don't, this mitigates that. Try it out you may find that you can drive a lot more than 360 miles and if it doesn't help you, you didn't have to spend a penny :)

I can go $400 then I'm on fumes so if I'm trying to go 400 instead of the 360 I need make certain of wer I am so as to be able to get gas. Or if I know I'm going to be doing that I can have a 2 gallon can in my car.

I thought this might be for the folks that their dash is out. I've noticed my car is pretty consistent over any range of temps in summer over 100 winter to teens. In either extreme I'm still getting 360 380 miles just getting to add fuel warning. Etc . Pretty much in both extremes. I've never run out of gas in the Prius with display working or not .
