Help with code P0B47 - Worth getting it diagnosed further or just replacing hybrid battery?

    I have a 2011 prius with 127k miles. I had zero issues with the car but after coming back from a week long trip, the car had check hybrid light on, check engine light, yellow ! triangle.

    The code descriptor is Hybrid Battery Voltage Sensor “C” Circuit Low

    The car went from being in limp mode not entering "Ready" to now after reading/resetting codes, the cart starts, drives normally but still has the warning lights on, and the only remaining code is P0B47.

    I did have an issue with the 12v battery being undercharged which may have triggered all these warning lights and codes in the first place. But after charging it, the car did manage to get into ready mode again and it cleared most of the codes, except that one.

    Pulled Dr Prius battery scan and included the screenshots (not sure how to interpret exactly, but what I saw online seemed to indicate that means the battery is still healthy.

    I've called a hybrid battery place and their conclusion is to replace the whole thing.

    I'm just wondering if it's worth paying $150-200 bucks to have it diagnosed on the chance that it may be a less expensive fix.

    But if anyone has experience with this and thinks this always leads to a dead battery then it may make sense to just go straight to that.

    Would appreciate anyone's help with this!

    Because that's a problem with a particular voltage-monitoring circuit, it may not indicate any reason to replace the whole battery at all, as opposed to just finding and fixing the problem in the monitoring circuit.

    I appreciate the quick reply! That's kind of what I had hoped, but do you have any idea of what the typical repairs/solutions would be for that? I've seen some peoples videos where they had that same code and they replaced just this part Battery Voltage Sensor Control module 89892-47080.

    I'm just in a tricky spot because I have a ton of work dates coming up starting June 10th so I can't afford to spend too much time diagnosing this and need to get it fixed. Which is why I'm even considering the entire battery replacement.

    might be corrosion inside the battery case. dealer might not be your best option if you're trying to keep cost down.
    any hybrid shops around?

    That module has a mess of skinny wires (the No. 2 Frame Wire) plugged into it and connecting to 14 different monitoring points across the battery (every second module). Either some of those skinny wires will look ugly or broken off (the third one, in fact, according to the code you've got, but if you're in there and looking, may as well look at them all), or the socket where they plug into the module will have pins that look ugly or broken off (replacing module fixes that), or both. It's not likely to be something too hard to see.

    Edit: if I remember right—it's coming back to me now—the No. 2 Frame Wire was the name in earlier generations, but it's actually not a part Toyota will sell you anymore in gen 3. There's an aftermarket supplier, though, who's been mentioned in some threads here.
