05 190000mi. Car running fine, no recent work done to it. Got in it the other morning, dash lit up and it wouldn’t go into ready mode. All the gear selector boxes were flashing. Cleared the U0293 code and it worked fine. Got in it yesterday and same thing, this time clearing code didn’t work. Put in a new 12v battery, no change. Checked the fuses under the hood, all good. $200 harbor freight scanner gives these codes Global ob2 is U0293 Lost communication hybrid powertrain control module Under gateway is B1260, transmission controller ecu communication stop. Under ABS/VSC/TRAC is U0293 lost communication with hybrid vehicle control system and C1242 open circuit in IG1/IG2 power source circuit Also under A/C was B1400 normal and B1442 air inlet damper control servo motor? Not sure if they are related to main problem. Hybrid battery about 2 years old and inverter pump replaced 18 months ago. Cat and up/downstream o2 sensors replaced about 3 months ago. Any ideas? Not sure which direction to go. About to give up and have it towed to stealership.
Thanks, battery voltage was down to 6v this morning. Power button wasn’t turning off power. Having it towed to dealer Mon.
My car throws the exact same persistent U0293 code. In my case, it started after a severe water leak flooded the left side of my trunk where the Battery ECU is located. I drained the water, thoroughly dried out the wiring harnesses, and cleaned all the connectors. I even swapped the Battery ECU with a known-good unit, but nothing changed. When I clear the codes and press the Start button, the ICE fires up for about 10-15 seconds with violent engine shaking, and then it completely shuts down and locks itself back to the U0293 code. Also, just like a fail-safe mode, my front radiator fans under the hood blast at maximum speed as soon as I turn on the ignition. If you or I figure out which specific wire, hidden junction connector, or fuse is causing this CAN-bus communication loop after a flood/short, let's definitely update each other here. We can solve this together!
Haven’t noticed water inside. Did deal with water leaking in from the hatch strut on the 12v battery side corroding hybrid batt fan connector a few years ago. I’ll check other side tomorrow.
