Hey guys, so I finally got everything i needed to run a Dr Prius scan. The car passed all tests. When i did a life expectancy test, i did all the steps except when i had about 200 seconds left, the car went to charging mode which made it abort the test early. However, it still gave me feedback that my battery was in fair condition and at 67%. How accurate is this? Is this a pretty decent test that Toyota does?

You're at 67% state of charge seems reasonable . Run the hale out of it . how does the energy monitor look when you're driving the car for an hour or so you get decent coverage of magenta to blue to green and back . You can generally tell your car's battery condition and charging condition in general driving business by watching the energy monitor while on a good drive for like longer than hour .

Thanks for the heads up, I generally only drive the car for 30 minutes periods. I was worried because I bought this car from a buy here pay here lot but I think it’s looking like a good deal so far.

I paid like 7k out the door for 161k miles. Happy with it so far. The car is currently got two bars of gas left but it’s around 320 ish miles. I was hoping to get 400-500. Is that common?

400 on the 8.4 gal usually used doing said is about 40 mpg no? Pretty common yes. Getting it up to the EPA rated 47.1 is getting to you're 500 miles I've rarely seen this in any real world driving which is over a million miles in this model Gen 2. i hope you do better .

Because you got the error, the test result is not accurate. Try running the test again after the car is warmed up. The longer the test takes to complete means, the higher the battery capacity is.

Toyota does not have a test like this. The test was developed by the maker of the app to get a general idea of the energy capacity of the battery. The only thing the Toyota dealership can do to check the battery is to look for error codes. They can not tell you the health of the battery.

When i do that test, i put the parking brake on and put the car in reverse with the air conditioner and lights off and my foot off the brake pedal. The force of the motor on the e-brakes should put the discharge needle somewhere around 4-5amps. It starts at 800 seconds and then counts down until the battery his about 195v, where the ECU will start the engine to recharge the battery. It may happen at 400 second remaining, or 200 seconds remaining. The closer to 0 you get, the stronger the battery is. When you hit ~195v and the engine starts, thats the end of the test. The app calculates the amp draw by the amount of time it took it get to ~195v and then divides it by 80% of a perfect 6.5ah battery capacity to get the battery health in percent.
Repeat the test without the ac and lights and see how it goes.
Heres a screenshot of my test results. Screenshot_20260609-093422.png Screenshot_20260528-195837.png
