1500 miles and got a note on my rear door recall worksheet that driver side weatherstripping was torn. I hadn’t noticed it but it is indeed worn. See photo. Anyone else have this happen. I’m ultra careful getting and out of the car. Would this be a warrantee covered item? Any suggestions appreciated. J
I noticed mine wearing excessively in the first month I owned the car. It consists of a low quality rubber, which is quite susceptible to wear.
Have you done anything to mitigate further wear? I put a piece of clear shipping tape over the “wound” but that seems amateurish.
I had the same tear, same place. From the interwebs, I gather this is pretty common. I don't know what I was thinking, waited too long, and could not get it warranted.
I had same issue. Dealership refused this as a warranty issue. I haven’t done anything to try to fix it yet. The dealership said they could put new one on for a charge.
If anyone decides to replace theirs, please do it yourself and don't pay a dealership to do it for you. I can't think of many things easier to do on a car. Significantly easier than an oil change. <5min. I'd be tempted to order from Japan on this. $33 per seal before S&H from Impex Japan. $70-$80 per seal all-in from US dealerships during good sales. I've got some minor wear on my driver side. Consider turning off the setting that slides the seat back when you turn off the car, this may help with rubbing against it.
