My understanding is that every Prius has a factory alarm which is only activated by the dealer using the Techstream software. It is a basic alarm with just using the door switches to sound if a door is opened, not sure if it has a glass break sensor. Then most every dealer in the US will activate it and add their own alarm box with a shock sensor on it, then sell it is an alarm system for $700 on the sticker of the car. It is really to give dealers more keyless entry control while it is on the lot, but it is sold to you as a feature. One good thing about it is the dealer add-on box allows you to add other sensors, my add-on box was the AL-101 Omega Ultimate. You might need to activate your factory alarm.

Going through this now myself. The instructions clearly say the orange wire needs to be grounded to the chassis to arm the sensor. It says that you can use an ig-on wire which in most vehicles grounds to chassis when the ignition is off but not the gen 2 Prii case. The ig-on in the fuse bus and j1 wire (referenced in one of the youtube vidoes) is about 300 to 500 ohms when the car is off which is not grounded to the chassis. Perhaps the sensor's requirements aren't as strict as the documentation, but the way to really do this right is to use a relay to ground the orange wire when the ignition is turned off.

Hi Sorka, long time ago I did this, I can send you diagram how I did it. Idea was to use existing door single wire switch, I just added to this line gravity and shake sensors. I also have activation switch under my seat if needed, b'z of I parked on uneven surface that will not work. Thought you can overcome this trouble with more electronics.
Frankly didn't use this alarm for last few years, but just saw today that CAT problem still exists.

Thanks. I did use a variant of the diagram in this post:

Directed Electronics 507M Tilt Sensor Installation Instructions with Factory Alarm | PriusChat

But rather than automotive relays, I used these:

    https:// www. amazon. com/dp/B095YFJ69T

^^^ Note that prius chat is broken for amazon links so I had to format it so it doesn't get stripped out.

which are optically isolated. That said, the downside to these is that there's a about 1.5 mA draw on the relay when not activated since vs the automative relay which has zero draw since the auto relay draw the current to power the relay from the trigger line (blue wire). When the blue wire goes to ground, it sucks the power needed from the constant 12v to power the relay and this can still burn out the 507M. The optocoupler relays draw zero current on the trigger. You set the trigger type to low and when the blue wire goes to ground, it sucks 0 mA to trigger the relay.

I also used a second relay to provide a true ground to the orange wire of the sensor when the ig-on 12v signal turns off. On normal cars, when you turn the ignition off, the ig-on signa switches from 12v to ground. On the prius, it floats. This has caused tons of headaches in the past for the gen 2 prius for those that didn't use a second relay.
