Toyota quietly puts first incentives on Prius Go green, save green Amid all the recent talk in Washington about raising fuel economy standards, Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. was quietly trying to work off a backlog of unsold Prius hybrids by offering the first incentives on the fuel-saving hatchback. Seven of Toyota's 12 U.S. sales regions were offering a low lease payment, cut-rate finance deals or cash to the dealer for each unit sold. In California, Toyota spokesman Bill Kwong said the incentives were to help ensure that Toyota meets its sales target for the Prius. Read more.

no camry hybrid incentives around here. they're still going off the lot pretty quickly. popularity must vary by region.
I'd say there are incentives! I just bought a 2007 #6 off the lot for $3000 off MSRP with 0% financing for 24 months. From what I see on TV, those incentives are still available here in the Bay Area.

After seeing the Camry Hybrid in Kentucky, and hearing a $27k price, I began to think that it would have much appeal in the American market. Size and luxury trumping fuel economy, and all that.

Toyota caught crap when they didn't have enough available, now they have a small surplus and they want to reach a broader market and keep the interest up esp. for those who missed the full tax credit b/c they sold out so fast. Incentives? I think all they have to do is wait until the price of gasoline goes back up... $3.00/gallon ought to do it!
"Toyota's time is coming?" Wow someone has a vendetta blinding them... . A Toyota spokesman last year discussed the way that Prius sales are directly proportional to the cost of gas, and trucks and SUVs are inversely proportional to it. In other words, most consumers are so short-sighted that when prices are high they buy greener, but when they come back down they buy as though they'll never go up again. As he said, "Sheep were meant to be shorn." Gas prices will fall and rise, and during times when they ebb like now they'll need to incentivize the Prius to keep sales up. The 2007 Prius is also competing with any used Priuses on the market as it offers no major advantages, unlike the 2003 ones vs the 2002 and prior. When the 2008 or 2009 75mpg Prius comes out it's likely incentives won't be necessary again, regardless of gas prices.
around here incentives are pretty weak. slightly reduced financing aint gonna change much. to be honest with ya, i have lost track of availability around here. used to be tight, but since this area ranks high in new Prius registrations, i would have to assume that the market has to be loosening up. i literally see hundreds of Priuses every day now.

phew... In BC, it's $3k off an 06! That's in addition to the $2k tax rebate. The Camry Hybrid has no discount and a waiting list up here.
