    $100 to refill a PRIUS?!?!?!

    DAYUM!!
No wonder they filmed MAD MAX in Australia!!!

I don't think you could get $100 worth of fuel to fit in a Pickup Truck's fuel tank here even in some of our most horribly run states!!

I filled my GMC truck from all the way empty to all the way full (over 100 of your litres) and didn't break $75

I've never been able to get $50 of gas into my Prius; even out here where Gas is $5 a gallon. What's your Prius getting 5 miles a gallon???

At $5.89 a gallon for my station, and drawn down below what's healthy for the fuel system... it's possible to get over $60 in a 5G, as am spending mid-$30s for a half tank :p

Sigh... bit of a tired lament but man was nice to fill a similar half-tank for $6, once upon a time

Petrol is at $1.75ltr at the moment, so multiply by 3.8 to get US Gal = $6.65 a us gal, it was $2.10ltr not that long back, $105 for the 50 ltrs to fill the tank. The Aust tank can hold up to 60ltrs if the ambient temp is above around 40*C, the plastic tanks grow with the heat thrown up by the bitumen.
On the highway we don't get much more than 700kms on a tank of fuel, all flat country, big trucks push a lot of air as the pass a few feet away heading in the opposite direction, and there are a lot of big trucks that use the major hwy from here to the NSW South coast, around 1,500kms each way

 It cost $430 every 400kms to fill my Winnebago 10 mtr motorhome if I run it on petrol, about half that on LPG, but that is getting hard to find these days because the fuel stations are pulling the pumps out because they can't get anyone to recertify the bulk LPG tanks.

    65 litres?
Man....I wish my old company Priuses had an adult-sized tank like that!
    That explains some of it.
I had also forgotten that the $USD is a little beefier than the $AUD - which you may have been referring to.

An Aussie buck is worth something like 0.65 $USD.
Another example of two peoples being divided by a common language.

Not just that, but a US gal is not the same as the AU gal, 3.78 ltrs in a US gal and 4.55ltrs in an AU gal .... At least the miles is the same, so it makes converting to the metric system easier

I think it would be a strain to get 65 ltrs in on a fill up, I'd have to roll in after running out of fuel and a hot day, but the black plastic tank sags down between the straps each side and in the middle when the roads are really hot

Funny one between the states over here. In NSW a schooner is 375ml, in South Australia, that called a pint, but then you can also get an imperial pint .... in Tasmania, the imperial pint glass was the birthday and bucks night glass, they drink 6 oz beers over there (177ml) but two hits, one when the the beer is first put in front of them and the second after a bit of a chat, then it's the next blokes shout ..... doesn't take long to end up talking strange over there on a night out .....
