    I would hope that most consumers are not dumb enough to buy a car based on its name; but, alas, I know this is the case. I was amazed at this sales tactic, but this is certainly not the first time such a technique has been implemented by an American automaker.

    The 500 seems closer in spirit to the Taurus than a lot of car company renaming efforts, so it makes sense to me. I remember when Pontiac resurrected the Le Mans name
