Diagnosing Brake Sound

    @steamedhams Bingo on the recording! "stepping on an old floorboard" is a great way to describe it. By the looks/sounds of it, I think we have the same issue.

    > 2. I can get the creaking at standstill on flat ground without moving by releasing then pressing the brake quickly

    I haven't tried this yet, but will and get back to you. Very much would like to get this properly diagnosed!

    @steamedhams For the rapid depress -- in neutral or in drive? Wasn't able to get it with neutral, but didn't drive it much before trying...

    Mystery solved. It's the exhaust flange, more specifically the donut gasket that rubs between in the flange.

    The engine moves and shifts a bit at low speed so the exhaust flange allows the pipe to bend rather than be rigid.

    My mechanic (who is awesome) took a look and confirmed it. I also found a post with the same problem,

    Supposedly it's not a critical issue.
