Hi everyone 2007 Prius owner as of last Friday. 3 year old twins (in their car seats) will be occupying the back seat. Any suggestions regarding keeping the battery vent to the right side of the back seat uncovered? Has anyone had problems? I'm wondering about the consequences of blankies left over it, toys poked into it... thanks

It's only important in the hottest weather anyway and, because of its location, it's very hard to cover up...the blankets will fall down, etc. Just keep an eye back there in really hot weather.
It's not only really hot weather; really hard use, such as long climbs along twisty roads will also turn the fan on.

These vents inside the car behind the rear seats, do they take air in from the cab? Or do the batteries vent into the cab via these vents? My 1 year old daughter rides in a car seat in the back of my 2003 Prius. She has thrown up 4 times riding in the Prius and not once riding in our CRV. In trying to determine the source I have suspected the battery vents but I am not knowledgeable enough about the car. We do live in Central Texas in the hill country.
I'm pretty certain the vent is an air inlet. Some members here have noted that this inlet is unfiltered, and a few have fashioned very simple air filters to prevent large objects or fuzzballs from clogging the fan.
I googled ' Prius HV Battery vent'. Then I switched to images and scrolled til I saw it, I knew it existed.

My kids are a bit older, but it can be a bit of an issue - you really just need to keep an eye on it. My 12 year old sits on the side with the vent and sometimes she will bring a pillow on long rides - it has not been an issue, but I do try and keep an eye on it. However I did have a bigger problem. A couple of years back she got car sick. She opened the window, but did not stick her head out far enough - the wind blew it all back and a fair bit went in the vent - cleaning was not at all fun. If one of your twins has a weak stomach be sure to sit them behind the driver!
