We have an 01 with 110K. I had the brake booster replaced (about 2K!!) as the codes retrieved indicated a malfunctioning booster and acumulator. Since the repair the car will start to creep forward shortly after coming to a stop with the brakes applied normally. We have taken the car back to the dealer but they could not find anything wrong and they re-bled the brakes. In addition, after increasing the foot pressure the pedal is closer to the floor. Anyone have an idea as to why this is happening. Unfortunately we have only one dealer to work with on the Big Island so our options are limited without a second opinion.

    Thanks for any thoughts.

at the initial press of the brake pedal, does it have to go down farther to feel any brake effect? could just be that the brake pedal pushrod is not adjusted correctly.

I had the same problem in my '92 Accord, It turned out to be the Brake master cylinder. I replaced it myself. I don't know if when they replaced you brake booster they replaced the master cylinder. hopefully they did otherwise that might be your problem.

    good luck!!!

Thanks for the replies. So we have been living with it while looking for a solution. I took it in again today and received a call back stating (guess what?) it is the master cylinder, $1600 to replace.

When I OK'd the brake booster repair at $2K I specifically said that for that price it has to be fixed. (There was no problem with the brakes prior to the warning lights). Jeez, now they are saying the master cylinder. I wish I had another option here. Unfortunately, the dealer on the other side of the island owns both dealerships. Appreciate any thoughts on this latest outcome.

oof. yeah that does make sense. we were hoping for the best in this case but it appears not.

they do tend to go on the classic... DH has seen a few of them. it's *remotely* possible that both parts would go at the same time. if this wasn't a problem before they replaced the booster, and it became a problem right afterward, kinda sounds like they've got some responsibility in this.

it worked before. lights went on. they fixed something. now it doesn't work right. sounds funky, eh?

If the dealer won't eat this one I would call Toyota customer cares line it can't hurt , if only two dealers owned by same person, next step is move to one of the 48's more delaerships :)
