That's a pretty cool site!! Thanks for posting it. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Beryl Octet @ Mar 7 2007, 08:16 PM) </div>
The web site says it may be for other reasons . . . so for the mean time, I'll geve 'em the benefit of the doubt.
I think this one tells all the story you need to know: http://www.un.org/ Apparently China feels the UN is an enemy of the state too.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Sufferin' Prius Envy @ Mar 7 2007, 09:03 PM) </div> Just curious, do you feel the UN is a friend of the US? Do you think they promote our interests and well being as a country? Or does the UN put other nations interests (or their own bureaucrats pockets) ahead of ours? Rick #4 2006
That's hilarious. I'm not surprised. They do censor quite a bit of stuff. Also, if you try to access any site based in China, it will take a while for reasons I won't say here.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(viking31 @ Mar 7 2007, 09:18 PM) </div> That's preposterous... the reality is that people like you expect the UN the serve us first and foremost... anything else is completely biased and dishonest (as if we don't have our own bureaucrat pockets and motives, etc).
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(viking31 @ Mar 7 2007, 06:18 PM) </div> As a whole, no the UN isn't against the US. Nor is it against China, or any other country for that matter. But, the US doesn't firewall off the UN from its citizens, now does it.
There was an article in our hometown paper here on the east coast about China and computers. It seems that they do not want their so called "citizens" to spend a lot of time on the computer. (Most computers and cell phones are banned.) And so the ones that do get caught are sent to a prision boot camp to get them "unhooked" so to speak. They even had pictures showing these young folks getting out of bed early in the morning and doing "hard" labor to help them kick their "addiction" to the computer, and anything else that is electronic. One day, the masses will wake up and overthrow that government.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(loveit @ Mar 10 2007, 07:22 AM) </div> One day that government will light a neutron bomb wiping out all electronics and their populace will be the only one in the world not crippled and dazed and going through withdrawl.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(MarinJohn @ Mar 10 2007, 04:59 PM) </div> That supposed to be a joke? Or paranoia? They haven't even banned Priuschat. When I tried it, it said: "Your URL is available." Jerry
Jerry, you're not accessing PriusChat from the US, are you? Anybody use proxify.com or anonymizer.com? Who uses PGP or GPG with their email?
the reality is that all PriusChatters are subversives. Were trying to break the oil companies and the car manufactures and get tax breaks and change the laws regarding car pool lanes. No wonder the Chineses Government want's this site blocked!
