I just got my new 07 Prius over the weekend. All was well, until last night. Suddenly i can't use the smart key to lock the doors to the car. When i hit "lock" i get one long continious beep. I tried to do everything in the manual--but nothing worked.

    Any suggestions?

either there's a door ajar or you have one of the smart keys still inside the car...or you left the car in READY mode.

Sometimes I get the long beep if my key fob is too close to the SKS antenna, such as when my key is in my right-hand pocket and I'm standing close to the door. I take a step away from the car and hit the smart button again.

Or ... God forbid (you can read one of my earlier threads, as the unthinkable happend to me) your ECU that controls the smart function took a dump. Thank God I got the extended waranty! ... it would have been a ton of dough otherwise.

I always lock my Prius when I put it away, just for this reason. With where we live, there is no need from a security standpoint, but locking gives me a quick check that all of the doors are fully closed - helps avoid accidentally leaving on an interior light.
