Have a look at the following article pulled from an Alfa Romeo forum. The information relates to all HID headlights. The name of the author is at the bottom of the article.
There appears to be nothing in the article relating to any particular car. The author is just talking about HIDs in general. As far as I'm concerned, they're much brighter than halogens. I don't really care about color rendition at night. Is that deer tawny, brown, or dark tan? As long as I don't hit it I don't care.
I've always been a fan of HIDs and have converted my cars when not factory-installed. The biggest difference is on road signs and lines. They seem to reflect from infinity as opposed to halogen. Animal tapetums (the reflective layer in their eyes) reflect much brighter with HIDs. Allowing you to spot animals on the side of the road much sooner. Also they look much cooler than muddy brown halogens. Cheers!
Since I do a lot of night time driving, it has become almost a necessity for me. I have driven cars with and without HID, and invariably the cars with HID have a better visibility spectrum for me. They also seem to reduce eye strain when experiencing extended night drive times.
