How to clear the check engine light

    Does anyone know if we can clear the check engine light without having to go to a dealer or mechanic. The darn thing came on when I ran out of gas!

    You can buy an OBD II tester on eBay for about $30.00. This will allow you to scan any fault codes and also clear them. The other (cheaper) option is to just take it to your nearest AutoZone, Pep Boys, etc. and have them scan and reset it for you.

    Four reboots. If a problem isn't still present, that should do it.
