I'm getting tint in my Prius this week and I really like the top of the front windshield tinted, but I have the GPS and don't want intermitent signals or any interference at all. I wonder if the tint shop can cut around the area where the antenna is like kind of a "U" and still retain all GPS capabilities?
I have a 5% strip across my windshield. They just tinted over the antenna. it dosent interfear with it at all. I've had no problems and its been on for over a week now. I use my GPS every day. Unless your getting a tint with metal ie. silver mirror, I think you'll be ok.

I asked the screwball to cut around the area where the GPS gets the signal and of course, they didn't but the GPS works just as well with or without the tint. I feel good and I believe the car does too from the milage it renders.
I think the GPS antenna is actually in the dash and just "looks" out the window. It can also get signal from the side windows, though it would be weaker from there. The GPS antennas are tiny, about 1" square. I don't know which one the Toyota system uses, but they often also have an amplifier built in, to compensate for the loss in the tiny cable they use.
