I'll be leaving town for about 6 weeks, and wonder if it's OK to let the car sit for that long without charging the battery?

This is done by pushing the little button under the steering wheel labeled "Key." It is thought that, if you leave it on, it could run down the 12V battery (i.e. not the big battery that powers the electric motor, but the small battery that powers the lights, radio, etc.). Some have left it on with no problems, but since it's just a push of a button, it's worth taking the precaution. Of course, with the SKS off, you'll have to insert the FOB into the slot in order to start the car, so you should make sure you turn it back on as soon as you get back so you won't have to suffer through that hardship

No time at all. It takes about a month to ship them, and then they get prepped, and then they sit for, what, a few days on the dealer's lot? And unless someone screwed up the SKS is turned off most of this time.
