The Pennzoil Patinum is buy 1 get 1 free ( $5.78 a quart ) at ADVANCE AUTO. Info on the regular PLATINUM ( 5w-30 , 10w-30, etc. ) synthetic and the HYBID formula are at www.pennzoil.com/products/motor_oil/platinum.html . Also noticed a synthetic blend listed for SUV , pickup truck , and minivan use , therefore was wondering if it could be used for car engines such as the PRIUS ? Info on the PENNZOIL blend is at www.pennzoil.com/products/motor_oil/synth_blend.html . Last of all , was wondering if the 0w-20 syn-oil for HYBRIDS could be used in temps of -20 ( upstate NEW YORK winter ) ? THANKS AGAIN
Hi Smokey, I got a case of that 0W20 by mail order (not at your good price). You already know that Toyota does not recommend 0W20. This viscosity in synthetic has already been used in Prius, with no ill effects seen in the used oil analysis. Nevertheless, you will no doubt read warranty related concerns especially for the first 36k miles. If you are on the fence, then just use it during the winter. Would be great if we could get more engine oil analyses hint hint.

I have done a couple more oil analyses, but haven't got around to posting them in the spreadsheet. The latest at 12002 miles on Mobil 1 0w20 looked pretty good at 1 ppm Fe/1000 miles, look for it in the maintenance forum or do a search on "12002 miles" in the subject line. See this link: http://oilstore.stores.yahoo.net/peplforhy0wc.html Including shipping it was mid-30 $$ for me. Some auto parts chains have been having sales for other Pennz plat, but not necessarily the 0W20 'especially for hybrids' (whatever that means...) But it would be worth calling around perhaps.
