I purchased my 2007 Prius from this dealer. I plan on having it serviced there when needed. Normally I stay away from dealers and use a local mechanic who I trust. Because of the the Hybrid technology my mechanic, as of now, is not hybrid certified and recommends using the dealer. My question is..is their anybody who has a Prius from this dealer who can comment on their service experience? Have they been happy with the results and have they experienced any of the problems listed on this forum such as over filling the oil?

Another New Englander! I bought a 91 Corolla from them which I had serviced there and didn't have a problem with Ira UNTIL I went to trade it in for a new Corolla in 99, when I told them I was looking for a new one he says, "Well look around - here they are" (which I was already doing). SO I went to Atlantic Toyota in Lynn on the Lynnway and per chance met the salesman from whom we have bought our last 4 cars (Gezehagn Alemu), including both the 2003 & 2007 Prii. I have had complete satisfaction with both their sales and service for the past 8 years, and I always recommend them to anyone who asks. However, I must say that I have not been actively involved in the maintainance of the 03 Prius since that is not my primary vehicle, and I didn't find this site until after I purchased my 07 and began to REALLY get hooked on this model. Bottom line is I have been more happy with them than Ira when it boils down to the customer service part of having the car worked on. They have never suggested any service other than what was indicated by the car's mileage (we don't put a lot of miles on our cars usually, so things don't need to get done as soon, except for basic oil changes which I schedule on a time basis). I think the only thing Ira has going for them is that they are BIG - maybe too big - and less personal. Just my 2 cents, but I can't rave enough about Atlantic Toyota.

All you need is an oil change and a tire rotation. The reason my dealer has performed both oil changes is the coupon. What services does your mechanic feel unqualified to perform? If hybrid parts need servicing it's warranty work.

I don't think he feels comfortable around it right now. We both agree that initially it might be best to service it at the dealer. I realize that oil and tire rotation is the primary service requirement and theoretically anyone should be able to do it. I was trying to find out how competent IRA Toyota was with regards to Hybrids. If I was not following this forum I would never have known about over-filling oil. Seems so basic of a service that this should never occur by any competent service center.
