Even for a used Prius with some of the 3/36 factory warranty remaining. Any recommendations of 'things' to check for before buying the car that are somewhat unique to the Prius?

If it has HID's, make sure they both work as the bulbs aren't cheap and often aren't covered by warranty. This refers to the 2004 model and is clearly for a new car pickup, but some of it is relevant. Prius Pickup Checklist

<_< Be sure to invest in a CarFax report... well worth the money for the assurances. With the VIN, you can contact Toyota and determine whether the TSB's (Technical Service Bulletins) have been done and confirm the 'date in service' date for the base warranty purposes. You can also search the NHTSA web site for a list ot TSB's on the year model Prius you're considering - www.odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems The TSBs were few after 2004 and early 2005 models. During those years, it seems Toyota 'shook out' the glitches in the Prius computers and other elements. Gotta run for now... If I can find the exact contact information for the Toyota Customer Satisfaction, I'll post it later. CIAO
