Yesterday morning (11/14) our car was damaged by a person pulling away from a stop sign. Lots of front end damage and the doors aren't working too well. I was the only person in the car and came through pretty unscathed. Air bags did not deploy; I think that the impact was centered far enough from the sensors to keep them from activating (phew!) So now it's in the hands of insurance adjusters. Naturally, we're heartbroken that our piece of the future is damaged. Have to wait and see where we go from here, but for now we're using a rental Corolla.
Sorry to hear about your accident, but glad your ok. Don't sign anything till your sure your happy with the outcome.
Just an update: Car was totaled and we're going to have a 2008 Barcelona red package #3 in a couple of weeks (maybe). Since I wasn't considering replacing our car at such an early date I didn't keep track of the changes in packages. We're basically getting the old package #6 without the HID headlights. Now I'll have to remember how to change the avatar... Dealing with insurance companies is an adventure I don't wish on anyone except the cowardly, lazy police officer who worked my "accident."
Sorry to hear about your misfortune and I hope you aren't having to pay too much in addition to your settlement to get your new car.
Sorry, also, to hear about your misfortune. Glad you were not hurt. That's the main thing. That the air bags did not deploy probably has nothing to do with "how far from the sensors" the impact occurred. More likely it was because the deceleration was not great enough to require them. Good luck with the insurance, and with getting your new car.
Sorry to hear about the accident, glad you are ok. How many miles did you have and how much extra (if any) you have to pay out of pocket to pay for the new car?
