I incidentally placed my glasses in the sunglass holder with the lens up, closed it and it got scratched. Upon closer inspection i noticed that the metal piece to lock the sunglass holder is sharp and can easilly scratch and mine is somewhat sharp. Fortunately i have 2 yr waranty on my glasses and my scrached lens will be replaced. I will be filing that metal piece and maybe cover it with some plastic. or tape. a friendly reminder to you guys. Foam Another suggestion for protecting your high-tone shades is to cut a bit of Ensolite or other thin foam sheeting to fit into the cup and bottom of the plastic piece that pops down. Even hard plastic can mar delicate lenses...
In mine, there's already some kind of cushioning on the bottom of the drop-down section. I put my glasses in there lens-side down, and I haven't had a problem so far.
