Would you guys know what a code C2600 could mean? my friend bought a Prius couple of weeks ago and his car wouldn't start today. When he uses a Japanese Diagnostic scanner it says Code 2600, there is an explanation but it's in Japanese. He is very good with GM, Ford and other American cars but this is his first time working with Hybrids. One of the things I think caused the problem is the temperature where he lives is -32 C very cold, maybe something power related? He is trying to figure it out but there aren't any Prius dealers in the country and the only way he can find an explanation is if he learned Japanese. I was wondering if you guys could share some input because I know it really sucks for my friend.
The C stands for Chassis. This can indicate a problem with the steering, brakes, or other chassis systems. Can also indicate faults in the transmission control ECU or electric power steering system. Perhaps galaxee's DH can shed some light?
Hey thanks I really appreciate your responses, Can it be any of the things like power steering ECU and brakes? I understand the C for Chassis could be a problem caused by any of them. Is there any way to narrow down the problem? I've read the trouble code definition on the forum and I can't find C2600 I will have to ask him to clarify what he did to the car maybe he replaced a part from the Chassis system. I think his car is a NHW11 so probably 2003 or 02 I'm not sure about the miles but is there a certain problem when the Prius reaches a certain mile? I will talk to my friend again and ask him more questions, I'll make sure he checks out this forum as he wants to repair his Prius as soon as he can.
Perhaps if your friend took a picture of the Japanese readout, I could then ask one of my chinese/japanese friends to attempt a translation.
there is no code c2600 in the repair manual- either he transcribed it wrong or the scanner is wrong. there is no other prius code with a 2600 in it either, i just looked. can he check again? also, some of the proprietary hybrid codes can't be pulled with a standard obd2 scanner.
Haha hope not I too couldn't find the trouble code anywhere. Thanks bob64 I'll make sure to ask if he can send me a picture. I'll clarify with him tonight and make sure to ask him more questions about the Code and Chasis.
