They're showing this cool mini cooper ad repeatedly during the Tennessee v Memphis game tonight. hmmm, apparently I don't know how to embed the youtube things...
You must be watching an international satellite broadcast, that's not in English. PORTE APERTE IL 10 E L'11 NOVEMBRE.
Well they have an English version of that cause I've seen that without the italian (I think) stuff at the end. Quite creative.
Oops, sorry, I didn't even listen to the youtube one when I saw the familiar images from the US commercial. I don't actually even remember any voice-over...seems like it was just the pin-ball thing.
I saw the ad too, and didn't really get it. Even rewound it and watched it again with no real idea of its message.
It's like a certain* presidential candidate's message. It's all about mood, not substance. * Non-FHOPolitics self censoring. :tape2:
The "message", I guess, is that it's a fun car. I just felt the ad was creative and interesting, it got my attention and I remember the car. And isn't the point to get people's attention and make the product memorable? I'm not sure a message is really necessary.
Probably highlighting two things 1. It has double dutch doors 2. it's bigger inside so it can fit the ball.
Don't forget the ad is for the non-turbo N.A. edition of the MINI, so it is giving up something like 50+ hp. But the mileage is realistic if you don't get aggressive with the go pedal.
Maybe the message is that you'll feel like you're in a pinball game if you drive a Mini? Have you seen the crash ratings on those things? No Thank You!
You must be joking.... Minis are very crash worthy (see below) The second generation MINI Cooper hardtop earned impressive scores for front and side impact and roll-over testing in the latest National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) testing. In the NCAP side impact testing, the 2008 MINI Cooper received a 5-Star rating for front seat occupant side-impact protection - the highest rating issued by NHTSA. In the same test the MINI Cooper received a 4-Star rating for rear seat occupants. In frontal impact testing the MINI Cooper received a 4-Star rating for both front seat occupants. In addition the MINI Cooper carries a 5-Star rating for rollover safety. We are delighted that the NHTSA tests confirm MINIs excellent occupant protection in crash situations said Jim McDowell, Vice President of MINI USA. It is a testament to the level of safety we engineer in our cars, making MINI one of the safest small cars on the road today. The MINI Cooper and Cooper S help to maximize occupant safety with a total of six airbags - two frontal impact bags, two seat-mounted side impact bags and an impressive Head Protection air bag curtain that protects both front and rear passengers in the event of a side impact or roll-over. MINI’s crash worthiness is also enhanced by a rigid steel safety cage that helps to redirect impact forces away from occupants. Of course it is better to avoid an accident and MINI offers a palette of advanced electronic braking and traction management technologies to help keep the car safely on the road. In addition to standard Anti-Lock Brakes, and All Season Traction, (AST), MINI offers Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Corner Brake Control (CBC) and available Dynamic Stability Control (DSC).
