I'm attempting to set up Homelink on my mother-in-law's 2005 Prius to open her garage door. The first problem I see is that the Homelink buttons do not flash the way they are supposed to, according to the manual. First button (far left) when pressed flashes very rapidly for a few seconds, then stops and simply shines steady. Second and third buttons (middle and right) simply shine steady when pressed. According to the manual, they should pulse slowly, then flash rapidly. What is wrong here? Thanks! Stephen [email protected]
If you have a rolling code garage door opener, try that method in the owner's manual. As for the 2nd and 3rd, I believe you didn't use those buttons to program and thus are "empty" hence the steady red light
Took me a little longer than anticipated as well. One thing I noticed was that the time the manual says to hold it, I had to hold it for considerably longer than that.
On some occasions, you need to follow the proceedure to clear the homelink before programming it. A few posters commented they couldn't program it, esp after getting the car fixed. After clearing it, it accepted codes. Also, for rolling code openers, follow the directions for non-rolling code openers first, which sets the homelink to the correect frequency and mode, then follow the directions for rolling code.
Also you need to do both procedures if you have a rolling code. Do not just go to the rolling code procedure. Do them in order as written in the book it helps to have 2 people. I had the same problem at first.
Hmm... I just did the rolling code procedure - Press the 'test' button then press the homelink button twice. That's it. Are US garage door openers really that different from Canadian ones?
