When pressing the "DISPLAY" button there is an option to set the Navigation to be on "DAY MODE" all the time, even when the headlights are turned to the on position. I did this, but now I want the "DAY MODE" off (except during the day) and night mode (Nav screen turns darker) to be able to come on when the headlights turn on. Now when I go back to the same screen there is NO option to turn off the permanent "DAY MODE" because the "DAY MODE" button is now gone! The manual says: "If the screen is set in the day mode with the headlight switch turned to on, this condition is memorized in the system even with the engine turned off." Does this mean I'm stuck with a super bright screen at night?
Check the dash lights dimming switch; the rotary switch to the left of the steering column. If it is all the way up (full bright) it is probably overriding your display setting.
