ray2: Whoever is willing, would you please wing prayers/good wishes that my current car will sell soon? It's only been advertised for a day so far, but no bites at all yet. I am depressed (hubby says I shouldn't be, it'll just take time), but I WANT MY PRIUS NOW! Thank you!
I went through the same thing (trying to sell previous car before getting Prius) .. but I couldn't wait, and after only a week and a half of trying - I just traded in my car so I could get the Prius.
Tell me about it! It actually gets mpgs in the mid 20's if you drive hwy since it shuts down to 4cyls. However, I drive city almost exclusively. I see you are retired MGySgt USMC! My hubby is a retired SgtMaj USMC. Semper Fi!
Yes, we may do that, too. One dealership offered us a halfway decent price, but we weren't quite there yet emotionally, if you know what I mean...
I also was having a problem selling my 2006 4Runner that got 15 mpg. I finally found a dealership that gave me great deal on my trade, so now I want for my Prius to come in on order.
The dealer actually gave me about $500 over blue book for my '98 Taurus. This was the first time I felt like I wasn't being taken to the cleaners regarding my trade-in. Hopefully, you can get a similar deal. We've had our Prius since the middle of December and so far it has been the most positive new car experience we've ever had. Good luck! Rotorhead
I'll say a prayer for you and send good thoughts your way. A Chrysler 300 would ordinarily be a tough sell but nothing is impossible. Keep this thought in mind. Even on the worst day, when everything seems to be going against you, your luck can change in an instant. Your Chrysler 300 is exactly what someone out there is looking for. I believe you will find each other very soon and you will have your new Prius.
Semper Fi, and you let my brother know that he will never regret choosing a Prius, just as we never regretted enlisting in the Corps. Hope you get your asking price on your 300. Have you tried listing it on craigslist?
I will gladly add my name to the list of those sending prayers on your behalf. it may not seem like it at the moment but, things will work out for the best.
If you don't have luck with the newspaper, you might want to try something like Autotrader.com or Buy New & Used Cars, Research Prices, Sell My Car, Find Auto Dealers You will get a much wider audience for your 300. Good Luck!
I did it backwards, I guess. Bought the Prius and then listed my previous vehicle on Craigslist and Autotrader. But since my old vehicle is a 99 F150 I knew the Toyota dealer would have laughed at me and given me next to nothing if I traded it in. So it sits in the driveway for the time being. Not exactly a huge market for 15 mpg trucks at the moment but I keep telling myself that there are people who do need a truck for work....and one of them might want mine.
Free, like Craigslist, is best, but I've had better luck and quicker sales through the Oregonian. They offer an 'Adios' option that may be renewed twice for a total of six weeks exposure. The ads may also be non-consecutive if you'll be away for awhile or if there's a major holiday during the ad run. I think it's $48 non-refundable for three lines. Start it on a Friday to get weekend exposure (call in by Thursday noon), be sure to feature the AWD, warranty, mileage, price and condition, pay the extra $5 for an all-caps first line and good luck!
Sending prayers out to sell a car? Is this what religion has come to? I'm sorry to come across rude but that is rediculous IMO. It's kind of like thanking god when your football team wins the Superbowl, or blessing your golf clubs for a better game. LOL Hopefully it will sell soon and you'll get your new Prius.
Yes, I AM praying about selling my car! I am a Christian and I do pray about decisions large and small. Yes, you ARE rude! No, it's NOT like thanking God if a certain team wins and I don't golf. I asked for prayers/good thoughts, but you had to insult me and then throw in your little smiley face at the end of your post. Why don't you go be "helpful" to someone else?
Canesfan, many of us know how you feel ... anxious while unloading the less efficient car. We, like many here on PC, unloaded SUV's so we could get our hybrids. Hang in there, and we will be praying for a quick sale and a satisfied buyer. And forgive F8L. Some folks don't grasp that their faith means you'd relate to your creator as you would a best friend, and that bagging on your belief would be like bagging on someone who'd rather believe in nothing ... but that's a matter best made in F'sHOP.
