Hello everyone, I need some help figuring out what these wires do? This is from a page in the Costal Tech autolock mod. I think the purple wire is to the speed sensor, and the white wire with black stripe is the power, but I am not sure what the orange wire is for? There is also a purple wire at pin 13 that is used by their EV mod. Does anyone know 1) Is the purple wires at Pin 19 and 13 giving info for speed? 2) Is the white wire with black strip a common power wire? 3) What is the orange wire at pin 7 for? I have attached a picture of the wire connections-hope you can see it. Thanks, Steve & Kira
Is this what you're asking about? http://priuschat.com/forums/audio-electronics/394-speed-sensor-defeat-update.html#post21558
Thanks for the reply, The wires that I am looking to identify are on the right side of the cabin. I think the picture that you have is next to the middle console on the passenger side. You get to them by taking out the glove box and then pulling up on the right vent side thing to take it out. There is a bank of wires and connectors that you can access there. Should I try to include a better picture? Steve & Kira
Speaking of Japanese Prius's case... 1) Pin 19 is for speed sensor 2) Pin 1 is power ground (0V) line 3) Pin 7 is IG-ON power line (+12V) Ken@Japan
Thanks Ken for the wire info. Do you know how speed information is transmitted over the purple wire (pin #19 and 13)? Is it voltage dependent or is it some sort of sine wave that increased frequency as the speed increases? Is there some way I can test the Coastal Tech auto lock mod? I'm thinking that if there is a way I can power the mod on a bench by applying a 12V supply to the orange supply and ground to the white with black stripe then I some how trigger the purple wire some how with a 15mph signal that I should be able to measure if a signal is sent out the black wire (which is connected to the lock system I think) I could decide if the chip I got is bad or if it just isn't "making contact" correctly. Thanks again. Steve
The pin #19 is speed pulse, which is 5V square wave and approx 1,020 Hz at 15 mph. Your chart does not show use of pin #13. Anyway, pin #13 is Cruise Control signal and the voltage will be... between 10.0V and 16.0V shows READY mode between 6.6V and 11.4V shows CANCEL switch engaged between 4.5V and 8.1V shows RESUME switch engaged between 2.3V and 4.5V shows SET switch engaged below 0.5V shows CC MAIN switch engaged Ken@Japan
